Michelle Haase

Having worked in bushcare, landcare and catchment management for over 5 years, Michelle is experienced in developing funding submissions. She has successfully procured and administered funding on behalf of many landcare and bushcare groups to assist them in implementing their projects. She has been successful in sourcing funds from federal, state and local funding streams, as well as negotiating both corporate sponsorship and local funding support for community NRM projects.

Successfully funded projects have included some of the following NRM activities:

  • Weed Removal
  • Riparian and remnant vegetation rehabilitation
  • Coastal/Foreshore Revegetation
  • Conservation incentives for landholders to install off-stream watering points, remove weeds, conserve and remnant vegetation
  • Walking Track repair
  • Volunteer Support - tools, capacity building activities
  • Flora and Fauna inventories
  • Utilisation of conservation volunteers (including Green Corps teams) for conservation work.

Throughout this time, Michelle has worked for both government and community stakeholders, at a state, local and regional level. This has provided Michelle with an insight into the functioning of the different layers of government. This experience has also equipped her with the knowledge and skills required to implement volunteer programs in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation. Michelle had first hand experience whilst working for local government, of managing a local volunteer program and ensuring compliance with all OH&S provisions.

Having worked with rural, peri-urban, urban and coastal community groups throughout this time, Michelle has a comprehensive understanding of the diverse NRM issues facing local councils, catchment management authorities, landcare/bushcare groups, farmers/graziers, and rural communities. She is committed to supporting community groups in progressing their projects to on-ground action, and implementing projects in accordance with accepted best practice management.
